Frequently asked questions
From our approach to daily life, enrolment and safety: the questions parents ask us most.
EnrolmentWhat are your fees?
Because fees vary with the enrolment period and whether you need the school bus, we prefer to discuss them in person or by phone. Come and tour the school or give us a call, and we will give you up-to-date information.
EnrolmentIs there a Montessori preschool in Beykoz?
Yes. Beykoz Çengelci Montessori Preschool (Özel Beykoz Çengelci Montessori Anaokulu) is a private preschool at Çaltepe Sk No:14 in Çubuklu, Beykoz, offering Montessori-based education for children aged 2–6. Our classrooms use genuine Montessori materials, and we also draw on the Waldorf and Reggio Emilia approaches.
EnrolmentWhat age range do you accept?
We teach children aged 24 to 72 months (2–6 years). In Montessori philosophy this is the stage of the "absorbent mind", when learning is at its most intense.
EnrolmentI'm looking for a nursery for my two-year-old. Do you take children that young?
Yes, we accept children from 24 months. Officially we are a preschool (anaokulu), but the 2–3 age group that many parents search for as a "nursery" (kreş) is part of our school. We plan settling in with the family, at the child's own pace.
TransportWhere in Beykoz is the school?
We are at Çaltepe Sk No:14 in Çubuklu, Beykoz, on a quiet street close to Kanlıca, Paşabahçe and Kavacık. There is parking at the school, and school bus routes are planned each year for families further away.
Daily lifeWhat are your opening hours?
The school is open on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00.
EducationHow big are your classes?
We deliberately keep our classes small. Fewer children lets the teacher follow each child closely and lets every child work at their own pace. We are happy to talk about current class sizes during your visit.
EducationWhat are the core principles of Montessori education?
Montessori is an approach based on scientific observation that respects each child's pace and interests. In a prepared environment, using concrete materials, it aims to develop independence, self-discipline and thinking skills.
EducationDo you also draw on the Waldorf and Reggio Emilia approaches?
Yes. Montessori is the foundation of our teaching; we also draw on Waldorf's emphasis on daily rhythm, nature, handwork and music, and on Reggio Emilia's projects that grow out of children's own questions.
Daily lifeDoes the school have a garden?
Yes. Our garden has a small stream, vegetable beds, a sandpit, a playhouse and a hen house. Children spend time in the garden every day; touching the soil and caring for animals is part of how we teach.
EducationDo you offer English and other enrichment classes?
Yes. There is English every day through games and songs, plus robotics and coding, dance, children's yoga, gymnastics, ballet and piano workshops.
EnrolmentHow does enrolment work?
We first ask you to come and see the school. Fill in the visit form or call us and we will arrange a time. During the visit you see the classrooms, the garden and the teachers, and we talk through fees and the enrolment period together.
TransportDo you have a school bus?
Yes, we offer a school bus service. Routes are planned at the start of each school year according to where our pupils live. Our vehicles comply with the school transport regulations and are accompanied by a staff member.
Daily lifeHow are meals provided?
Meals are prepared every day in our own kitchen. We use fresh, nutritious ingredients instead of processed food, and our menus are planned by specialists.
HealthHow do you handle health and medication?
To protect everyone, children showing symptoms of illness cannot attend school. Regular medication is accepted with a signed parental consent form, and each dose is reported to parents through our mobile app.
SafetyDo you have security cameras?
Yes. The common areas and classrooms of our school are recorded by camera systems.
